About

As a former paraprofessional psychiatric social worker, I worked  as a case manager as well as in residential and outpatient community mental health programs that catered to the severely mentally ill adult population. I have worked with the homeless and participated in internships working with abused children and with family members of prison inmates at a maximum security prison.

As an undergraduate, I majored in sociology/psychology and social work though, after many interruptions, I eventually received undergraduate degrees in the Behavioral Sciences, Spanish, as well a degree in the Humanities, with a Philosophy emphasis with which I graduated summa cum laude.

In my spare time, I am also an artist and have even occasionally been paid for my efforts over the years.

Currently, I hold a Juris Doctor in Law with a concentration in International Law from SUNY Buffalo, with a particular interest in human rights, humanitarian law (human rights within warfare), and public international law. I also hold an M.A. in Philosophy from SUNY Buffalo.

As an attorney-at-law, I have recently been admitted to the State Bar of California. I am a member of the American Society of International Law and the National Lawyers Guild.

In the past, I have assisted with federal litigation pertaining to migrant farm workers, and have interviewed clients seeking assistance with their amnesty applications prior to deportation in a federal detention center.

My interests are broad, but they are all ultimately linked in some fashion.

Currently, I am in the beginning stages of my dissertation for the Ph.D. in Philosophy. Roughly, it will deal with the body as a source of personal and political expression and contestation, combining elements my favorite areas within philosophy: existentialism, phenomenology, aesthetics, and political theory.
